The St Giles’ Centre has contributed to a number of Welsh Government curriculum resource projects for primary schools, supporting teaching and learning in RE/RVE within integrated curricula. We also identify and create resources according to what is needed here in Wrexham. Only FREE electronic curriculum resources are included on this site.

Future developments

At the moment, we are working on a new title for the Randalph’s Spiritual Quest and Search for Meaning Series, shaped specifically for Wrexham, called Working together (8-11 years).

We are also developing a new series called the Exploring the St Giles’ Parish Church Series (3-7 years; 8-11 years), as well as a themed PowerPoint series.

SynopsisThis is a Welsh Government sponsored storybook series exploring popular themes for 3- to 7-year-old learners. The series follows two curious children called Aled and Siân, who love exploring the world around them. In the Exploring Our World series, Aled and Siân share some of their experiences with their Christian, Hindu, Jewish and Muslim friends. Aled and Siân enjoy listening to their friends’ experiences too, as they learn about how these relate to their own. Each title in the series explores a theme:
Celebrations;
Myself and Others;
Journeys;
Signs and Symbols;
Special People;
Times and Seasons.

The series has been devised to make connections between RE/RVE and other areas of the curriculum. There are many opportunities to explore and develop relevant RE/RVE concepts and contexts through the series.

SynopsisThis is a Welsh Government sponsored storybook series exploring seven RE/RVE focused themes. The series follows two curious children called Aled and Siân, who enjoy playing ‘I Spy’ to help them get to know the places around them better. In the Exploring Why series, Aled and Siân want to find out why some of the things around them are important to their Christian, Jewish and Muslim friends. Each title in the series explores a theme:
Bread (Christianity);
Cross (Christianity);
Water (Islam);
Veil (Islam);
Light (Judaism);
Menorah (Judaism);
Symbols of Faith (Festival of Faiths).

Randalph’s Spiritual Quest and Search for Meaning Series

SynopsisThis is a Welsh Government sponsored storybook series exploring the question, “What really matters?”. This question takes Randalph the Wise on a journey through Wales, where he finds some special places and people who help him with his quest. Some things that really matter include:
Bringing Health and Healing;
Caring for the Future;
Living with Nature;
Making Spiritual Journeys;
Remembering the Past;
Serving Others.

The series has been devised to support RE/RVE within the Humanities AoLE. There are many opportunities to explore and develop relevant RE/RVE concepts and contexts through the series.
