Both informal and formal advisory support are offered to teachers in Wrexham primary and secondary schools through a creative partnership between the Wrexham County Borough Council (WCBC) and the St Giles’ Centre. This partnership means that Wrexham is able to have a dedicated specialist RE/RVE advisor.
As well as offering advisory support to teachers in Wrexham, subject specialist support is provided for Wrexham Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE), which is the statutory body advising WCBC on matters relating to the provision of religious education and collective worship within the local authority.
Examples of support
Schools and teachers ask for many different kinds of advisory support. Here are a few recent examples of support provided.
- Planning and progression for RVE in an integrated curriculum.
- Developing spirituality in the classroom.
- Supporting examination-level Religious Studies.
Wrexham and Flintshire Religious Studies Forum
The St Giles’ Centre continues to support the Wrexham and Flintshire Religious Studies Forum, run by teachers for teachers. The support offered by the Centre includes professional learning, specialist advice, resources, updates on relevant developments, encouraging participation in national conversations, and sharing emerging practice from across Wales.
